CAN YOUR FAITH COMMUNITY HELP?

WHAT IS A RESOURCE & RESPITE CENTER?

It will be a SAFE DAYTIME RESOURCE CENTER to provide stabilization services for Georgetown residents experiencing homelessness. connect them with partner organizations, and schedule timely follow-ups on essential activities such as document recovery, housing navigation, and benefit or employment applications.

WHY ARE WE DOING THIS?

To accomplish our mission to BREAK THE CYCLE OF HOMELESSNESS in Georgetown, we need to work with our unhoused neighbors in a safe, private environment where they can take a breath and access resources needed to restore stability to their lives.

A central location with predictable hours will make it easier for our Navigation Team to meet with our neighbors on a consistent basis. On-site access to office equipment and internet services will make it easier to complete applications and upload required documents.

WHAT IS OUR FIRST STEP?

We would like to begin with a pilot, partnering with a local faith community that has available weekday space we could use for a few hours a day a couple of days per week.

HOW WILL WE MAKE THIS WORK FOR YOU?

The office will be staffed during all open hours by volunteers trained in trauma-informed support and de-escalation. We will provide indoor waiting space, so people do not gather outside the building.

This space will operate during daytime hours and will not provide overnight shelter. We maintain a relationship with the Georgetown Police Department Crisis Intervention Team (CIT)—and we can supply a certificate of insurance. We are flexible and are open to adjustments needed so this arrangement works for everyone.
