 Empower the unhoused in our community through advocacy, education, and pathways to stability while fostering dignity and community integration. 

 WHO ARE WE? We are an unincorporated nonprofit coalition consisting of local organizations and residents working together to help our unhoused neighbors living in the Georgetown area. Participating organizations provide meals, clothing, transportation, extreme weather centers, and assistance with showers, laundry, and other basic needs.

EVERYONE CAN HELP!

If you want to help our neighbors, you can volunteer with any of the organizations listed below–or you can make a donation to support their work. 

But, even easier, you can simply treat our unhoused neighbors with friendliness and respect. If you meet someone you think may be unhoused, don’t just pass them by . . . smile and say “hello!” 

If you’d like to do more, a $10 gift card for a taco or fried chicken meal will always be much appreciated!

Provides services to adults, children, and adolescents with serious mental illness or emotional disorders, autism or pervasive developmental disorders; to persons with developmental disabilities; to infants and toddlers with developmental delays; and to adults and children with family health care needs.

Provides financial assistance and food pantry for residents of Georgetown, Andice, Bartlett, Florence, Granger, Jarrell, Jonah, Schwertner, Walburg, Weir and the portion of Hutto that lies within GISD.
Operates the “Neighbors in Need” pantry, offering food, fresh coffee, hygiene items, and clothing to those in need.
Operates a state-of-the-art, 118-bed acute care psychiatric hospital offering comprehensive behavioral health services to adults, teens, children and seniors located in the Georgetown and Austin areas.
Provides barrier-free access to basic necessities, especially food, empowering the working poor and underserved with dignity and hope. Operates severe weather centers during life-threatening weather.
Navigation Services is a NEIGHBORS FIRST! program that empowers unhoused residents in our community to navigate the pathways to stability by obtaining government-issued identification documents needed to find a job, rent an apartment, and move forward with their lives.
Serves the unhoused in Georgetown. Since 1/1/25 Kat Kares has served a hot meal every Friday at 4 PM. Now serving at St. Paul Methodist Church, 610 MLK St. Non-denominational. All welcome to help, serve, or connect.
In addition to the Navigation Services program. Neighbors First! is working with other organizations and with local government officials to identify and implement community solutions that can break the cycle of homelessness in our community.
Located at 1930 S Austin Ave. in Georgetown, the Salvation Army is an international movement working to meet a wide range of human needs without discrimination.
San Gabriel is a Welcoming Congregation that welcomes people of all walks of life, celebrates our diversity, and cultivates a spirit of generosity and hope. They often host warming centers during frigid weather, and they regularly offer shower days for our neighbors.
In keeping with their belief in the importance of community and coming together to support one another, St. Paul regularly shares its space so our unhoused neighbors have a place to pick up lunches from Helping Hands or share a meal with Kat Kares.

SVDP volunteers visit those in need in their homes and listen with empathy and compassion. They provide hope, community resource information, financial assistance and follow up support including prayer support as requested. They also offer a food pantry Saturday from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m., which is open to all.

The City of Georgetown provides a liaison to the Coalition, linking people living and working in the unhoused community to resources and expertise within our city government.
