Program Overview

HOME AGAIN is a housing re-entry and stabilization pilot designed to help Georgetown area residents move quickly from homelessness into stable housing. This work will serve as a proof of concept for a scalable, cost-effective model that could be expanded countywide.

Neighbors First! is already doing a trial run of this program. We are working with one individual to assist her in finding an affordable apartment and developing a budget and stabilization plan that will allow her to live self-sufficiently. Neighbor First! is paying for move-in costs, including applications fees and deposits, and is subsidizing rental payments for a few months while she works on her stabilization plan.

The Need

People experiencing homelessness are often in a cycle that is difficult to overcome without coordinated support.

  • Inability to secure employment without stable housing
  • Inability to qualify for housing without income

Program Design

Participants will be people already known to our team and actively working toward stability. Key steps are:

  • Landlord recruitment and partnerships
  • Participant screening, selection, and readiness assessment
  • Upfront barrier resolution (ID, benefits, budget planning, employment readiness)
  • Short-term financial assistance (application fees, deposits, rent)
  • Ongoing case management and stabilization support
    • Network of service providers (housing, employment, health, benefits)
    • Regular check-ins to monitor progress
  • Coordination with landlords and service providers

Funding Needs

We estimate it will take about $5,000 to get one person into housing and provide financial assistance while they work toward self-sufficiency. We are applying for grants, but community-based donations would enable us to help more people faster.

Expected Outcomes

  • Rapid transition from homelessness to stable housing
  • Increased employment and income stability
  • Improved housing retention
  • Reduced reliance on emergency and public resources
